The Mummy MOT is the UK’s leading postnatal assessment – and as a certified practitioner, I’m proud to offer it here in Ealing. It’s recommended from 6-8 weeks after birth, but it’s never to late. It includes a full postural screen, pelvic floor muscle assessment, abdominal muscle check for any separation and screening for bladder, bowel or sexual dysfunction. You’ll also receive a report of findings and a bespoke recovery programme.
Whether you had a vaginal birth or a c-section, recently or years ago, this is the thorough, expert postnatal assessment you deserve.
Pregnancy places increased demands on your body, and it’s common to experience aches and pains as your posture, biomechanics and hormones change. We assess and treat a wide range of pregnancy-related musculoskeletal conditions, including pelvic girdle pain, round ligament pain, lower back pain, mid back and rib pain, hip pain, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Using a combination of stabilisation exercises, gentle mobilisation, movement and positioning advice, postural correction, breathing exercises and support belts where appropriate, treatment is tailored to help reduce pain, improve mobility and keep you as comfortable and active as possible throughout your pregnancy.
Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles, ligaments and connective tissues that support your bladder, bowel and uterus. When these muscles are weak, overactive or poorly coordinated everyday activities can become uncomfortable or disruptive, but with the right treatment most women recover well.
Continence refers to the ability to control bladder and bowel function. When this control is lost, it can significantly impact quality of life, confidence and daily activities and is far more common in women than many realise.
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) occurs when the muscles and tissues supporting the pelvic organs weaken allowing one or more organs to descend from their normal position into or beyond the vagina wall. It is a very common condition, affecting up to 50% of women over 40 and in many cases can be effectively managed without surgery.
Mild prolapse often causes no symptoms and treatment is not always necessary. Many women are unaware they have a prolapse until it’s identified at a routine examination.
Perimenopause and menopause are natural life stages that bring significant hormonal changes and with them a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms. While entirely normal these changes can affect daily life, work relationships and long term health.
Physiotherapy can play a meaningful role in helping women move through this transition with greater comfort and confidence.
A caesarean section is major abdominal surgery and the scar it leaves deserves expert care and attention.
Having a C-section can take a huge toll on the body – physically and emotionally- and for some women, the scar can affect the clothes they wear, intimacy with their partner, returning to exercise and simply moving with confidence again.
Recovering from pelvic or gynaecological surgery involves far more than waiting for wounds to heal. Surgery in the pelvic region can significantly affect the pelvic floor, bladder, bowel, core strength and overall function, and without the right rehab the effects can persist long after the procedure itself.
